Two weekends ago, Aübergine was at the Rockwell Global Pinoy Bazaar. Initially, I thought the bazaar was going to be composed of a few stalls, like one of those Saturday morning markets, and not the whole 750 square meters of the Rockwell Tent. I haven’t been there sand unfortunately, I wasn’t there during the bazaar because I had to be in Singapore for training.

A big congratulations to the girls of Aubergine for the launch of their clothing line and their brand new website!

Read on to see the video and pictures of the shoot.

The Great Green Wall

The Great Green Wall

We had the shoot for Aubergine on October 25 around three weeks before the bazaar, just enough time for me to do some post-processing and for delivery and enough time for them to have the tarpaulin sent to the printers. It had originally been scheduled on September 27, but due to Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana), the whole Metro Manila was a mess and they decided to postpone it indefinitely.

A few weeks later, they contacted me and rescheduled the shoot. The plan was to have them come to my house in the morning and have the models get their hair and make-up done and at noon we would start the shoot and finish by sundown. It was great fun doing the shoot with the girls, but like many well-thought out plans, we overextended and our shoot reached well into the evening.

One of the last sets that we were supposed to do was to have the model sit back or lean on a wall that was covered in a vine-like plant that looked pretty much like a hedge. It was supposed to have a tranquil, serene, and fresh mood to it, but as daylight was fading fast, we prioritized doing the shoot at the wall of graffiti first.

With no more sunlight, I either had to recreate the sun with my strobes, or I could improvise on the spot what else I could do. The final image turned out quite nice. It was still tranquil and serene, but it had an altogether more somber feel to it. And it kinda reminds me of the maze in the Goblet of Fire too!

It was a great and wonderful experience to do the shoot for a very young and hip client. The shoot itself was a blast, and even if at the end of the day I was dead tired, it was the good kind of tired and I hope to be able to do more shoots like these soon.

You can reach Aubergine at their website or through their Facebook.
